New Horizons of International Cooperation

Recently Prof. Dr. Hans Christoph Nuerk, the head of the Psychology Department, the Head of the Laboratory of Diagnostics and Cognitive Neuropsychology of University of Tübingen (Germany) visited Belgorod State National Research University.

The main purpose of the visit was to discuss the possibilities and prospects of joint scientific and academic cooperation between University of Tübingen and Belgorod Research University in different domains. The Principal Prof. Dr. O.N. Poluhin agreed with the opinion of Prof. H-C. Nuerk that it’s necessary to purchase modern devices: functional near-infrared spectroscope (FNIRS) and eye-tracker for Belgorod Research University for successful joint projects in neuropsychology. Prof. H-C. Nuerk stated that scientists, PhD and master students of Belgorod Research University can master neuroimaging techniques in the lab of diagnostics and cognitive neuropsychology of University of Tuebingen.

Practical aspects of the organizing the joint scientific research projects in the field of cognitive neuropsychology and neuroeducation between scientists of Belgorod Research University and of Laboratory of Diagnostics and Cognitive Neuropsychology of Tuebingen University were discussed at the official meeting of Prof. Dr. H-C. Nuerk with vice-rector for research and innovation Prof. Dr. I.S. Konstantinov.

Another important result of the negotiations was an agreement on academic exchange of bachelor and master students in Psychology to do their internship (3 and 6 months) and to participate in neuropsychological workshops in the laboratories of the Psychology Department at a prestigious university in Germany.

The professor got acquainted with scientific and educational domains of our University, its material and technical foundation. The most interesting to our foreign guest were the psycho-physiological Lab of the Faculty of Psychology of the Pedagogical Institute, some specialized laboratories of the Institute of Engineering Technology and Science, and Technopark "High technologies".

The meeting with representatives from Students Construction Bureau and his head Dr. of A.U. Aleynikov was very fruitful as students presented their projects with bio-feedback, which are within the research interests of Prof. H-C. Nuerk.

The Professor from University of Tuebingen gave two interesting scientific lectures on cognitive neuropsychology about influences of languages on numerical cognition, the other one – about the connection between spatial processing and arithmetic for the students and academic staff of Pedagogical Institute and Institute of Engineering Technology and Science. In an informal discussion afterwards, the professor answered the questions.
