The memorial plaque to Nickolai Strakhov was unveiled on Socio-theologycal faculty of BelSU on The Knowledge Day. This plaque is dedicated to our compatriot, outstanding philosopher, critic and publicist of XIX century N N Strakhov.
The ceremony was opened by the members of the Supervisory, Trustees and the Academic Council of the university, students, teachers, university veterans, representatives of the city and the region administration.
Deputy Head of the department of domestic and personnel policy – head of the Culture Department of the region Sergey Kurganskiy noted that Belgorod region revives the memory of historical figures. Every year memorials that perpetuate the memory of outstanding compatriots are installed on residence and office buildings.
"Today we are participants in a significant event in the cultural life of the city and the region. We perpetuate the memory, we pay tribute to our outstanding countryman Nikolai Nikolaevich Strakhov, who made a huge contribution to the development of Russian philosophy and journalism. The memorial complex, which is located in the building of socio-theological faculty of the Belgorod State University will be included into the educational route of local history excursions", - said Sergey Ivanovitch.
Head of Professional Education and Science Division of the Domestic and the Personnel Policy Department of the Belgorod region Albina Buchek congratulated the students, their parents and teachers of BelSU on the Day of Knowledge.
"It’s a great joy to discover new knowledge, new horizons, and set ambitious goals. I am sure that today every student who is enrolled in the Belgorod State University, should set a goal - to do everything possible for thriving of Belgorod region and Russia ", - admonished Albina Alexandrovna.
First Deputy Head of Administration of Belgorod for economics Andrei Izvarin stressed the importance of a memorial plaque in the year of the 140th anniversary of the University. Andrey Anatolyevich expressed confidence in the continuation of a tradition of opening cultural sites in the city and the region.
BelSU Principal Professor Oleg Poluhin told about the revival of the traditions that will reinforce national identity. Oleg Nickolaevich said that a comprehensive program has been developed, supported by the Belgorod Metropolia and the archbishop Ioan, scientists council and the whole team of the Belgorod State University. One of the results of this program implementation is the opening of a memorial plaque to N N Strakhov.
"In the year of the 140th anniversary of the Belgorod State University, we have decided to revive the Church of the righteous martyr Eugenia of Rome. Also in the building of socio-theological faculty is finished the reconstruction of the spiritual and educational center, bearing the name of another of our outstanding countryman, Metropolitan Macaria (bulgakov) of Moscow and Kolomna, the bicentenary of whose birth we will celebrate this autumn. It is important to remember the history, but more importantly - to pass from generation to generation, all the best that has been created previously by great predecessors. Dear friends, I encourage you to comprehend the philosophical heritage of N N Strakhov, explore remarkable theological works of Metropolitan Macaria, filled with life-giving philosophical thought ", - concluded Oleg Nickolaevich.
The author of the memorial plaque is the Honored Artist of Russia, sculptor Anatoly Shishkov, who was working on a piece of art for three months.
"I was inspired by the idea of spirituality, reviving the people's memory, which is sacred" - shared Anatoly Alexandrovich.
The plaque was unveiled by the best students of the socio-theological faculty of BelSU. Rector of the Preobrazhensky Cathedral, protoiereus Oleg Kobets ministered consecration rite.
The priest noted that the revival of the memory of the outstanding spiritual and moral teachers as N N Strakhov should be of huge importance for the younger generation. In particular, for the formation of a harmoniously developed personality.
