The educational project of "BelSU" and the world's largest pharmaceutical company Abbott is gaining momentum

The full-bodied delegation, which included the two vice-presidents of the largest pharmaceutical company Abbott and the heads of the Russian company Veropharm, a member of the Abbott Group was welcomed by the BelSU Rector Prof. Oleg Polukhin. During informal communication Rector told the guests about the history of the University, celebrating its 140th anniversary, the university infrastructure and implemented social programs.

Then the sides discussed prospects for further cooperation in the business format.

"This is our fourth meeting with the representatives of the Abbott Group and Veropharm during the year. Such intensity of meetings is encouraging and demonstrates our joint interest in achieving practical results of cooperation", – said the principal.

Deputy Director of the Institute of Medicine, head of the pharmacological direction Irina Spichak noted the importance of the attention of such major pharmaceutical companies as the Abbott and Veropharm to the training and talked about some of the results of joint work.

"Taking into account the needs of Veropharm we have developed a new educational program, added the required competence and organized educational practice for senior students at the enterprises of our partners. As a result, three students have been employed in the Veropharm. One employee of the Faculty of Pharmacy caught the attention in Hannover. He will take an internship at a pharmaceutical company Abbott” – she said and thanked the Head of Veropharm Leon Kogan as the inspirer and organizer of the Veropharm educational project in "BelSU".

Irina Spichak also noted that in order to improve the quality of training it is necessary to create a simulation class at the University – a lab that would help to prepare practitioners. This topic is discussed. There is also a preliminary agreement on the establishment of base academic department in the company Veropharm.

Head of preclinical and clinical research center Mikhail Pokrovsky said that pre-clinical and clinical research issues were some of the key at the beginning of the discussion and cooperation of BelSU and Abbott.

"BelSU is one of the five most powerful university in the level of these operations on the Russian market ", – he said.

In turn, Abbott Vice-President on operations Anton Herbig thanked the university administration for their attention to the development of pharmaceutical education.

General Director of Veropharm Elena Bushberg expressed gratitude to the rector of the university Oleg Polukhin for the formation of a team of scientists and teachers, who are demanding in the training of future professionals for the industry.

General Director of Abbott in Russia Elena Kartasheva also noted the prospects of the projects that are invested in the students.

Then the guests visited the training session the students of the Medical Institute, where Abbott Vice-President on operations Anton Herbig told the students of the university of his professional career, noting that the practice-oriented training has played a crucial role in his establishing as a professional.

In conclusion, the BelSU Rector Oleg Poluhin stressed that the vital priority for the students should be studies and the ability to control the future.

Vladislav Shestakov, director of the FBU "State Institute for Drugs and good practices" of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation also addressed the students. He noted that the students at the university have excellent conditions for learning and invited them after the graduation to his institute for further improvement in the profession.
