Winners of Three Sciences Tournament

The tournament gathered the strongest teams from regional stages. Students from Moscow, Voronezh, Tumen, Novosibirsk, Barnaul, Tula, Chelyabinsk, Saransk and Belgorod competed in scientific competence.

The team from Belgorod “Beliye Susliki” (“White Gophers”) leaded by Anton Alyabyev (biology) was represented by Anastasia Popova (chemistry), Aleksandr Kluyev and Nikolai Skopez (physics), Eugeniy Seliverstov, Ekaterina Zhydomorova and Margarita Kononova (biology).

Tournament tasks were the combination of applied and fundamental tasks and demanded complex and creatively different approach: to invent the construction of nano-forceps for protein molecules caption, to find alternative ways of bivinyl and cinnamene derivation from vegetable material, to educe the influence of ultrasound on various pollutions, to build the models of bee and bumble-bee colony etc.

In the final round “Beliye Susliki” presented the solving of “Phytoncide” problem. They demonstrated self-made experimental device for evaluation of plants’ phytoncide activity and told about its appliance.
