Preliminary round of International Engineering Championship “CASE-IN” took place at BelSU
“CASE-IN” is the largest practice-oriented competition in Russia and CIS for engineering cases solving among students of leading universities.
Ten days before the competition, the participants got their assignments. They should analyze geological conditions of an existent coalfield, suggest a mining activity plan according the conditions and amount of investment.
Ten teams of students from various specialties (applied geology, mining, ecology etc) took part in the preliminary round. The jury included specialists from mining companies and specialists from BelSU: dean of BelSU Mining and Resourse Management Department Aleksandr Petin, assistant professor of Applied Geology and Mining Subdepartment Sergei Mining and assistant professor of Applied Geology and Mining Subdepartment Boris Hramtsov.
The first place went to «Black Miners» team: Andrei Afanasyev, Andrei Manuilov, Polina Romanchenko, Ivan Fyodorov.
The second place went to «Quarcit» team: Ivan Komarov, Aleksei Komarov, Dmitriy Lepetyha, Karen Saruhanyan. Third – to “Phianite” team: Natalya Shehovtsova, Dmitriy Ushakov, Ruslan Baklanov, Sergei Fomenko.
The winners of preliminary round would meet again in May, at the final stage in Moscow.
