Round table conference “Everyone is difficult, everyone is equal” dedicated to International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination took place at BelSU Cross-Cultural Communication Center
At the conference, students of various nationalities discussed problems of racism in various countries. Teachers and students of BelSU institutes and departments talked about the role of ethnic stereotypes in cross-cultural contact, adaptation to new ethnic and cultural environment and students’ communicative tolerance.
Participants exchanged opinions, and agreed that racial discrimination exists in every country, but not every personal conflict is racially discriminative.
In the end the students went to conclusion that there is no racial discrimination in Belgorod; there are kinds of personal experience. “The more we study about other nations’ culture, the more chances we have to befriend people of any nationality”, – said the student of BelSU Institute of Cros-Cultural Communication and International Relations from Benin Atta-Koffi Kuami Alberic.
Every participant had an opportunity to share his or her experience.
“We can’t invent an absolute recipe of international agreement, but we can create a friendly environment for amicable discussion of challenging questions”, – said the head of the Center Elena Nazarenko.
