Specialists for work with people with autistic spectrum disorders met the students of BelSU Sociology and Theology Department
The graduate of BelSU – the Doctor of philosophy, the clinical director of the private agency working with autistic children and children with special needs "I AM SMART S-COOL", the member of Association for Behavior Analysis International and Ontario association of consultants counsellors psychometrists and psychotherapists Olesya Kotko (Canada, Toronto) told students about ABA technique (application-oriented analysis of behavior). This analysis is a basis for the subsequent therapeutic interference in operation with people with autism and in the USA, Canada and European countries.
Olesya Kotko told that Russian educational facilities havent’t trained specialists in ABA technique yet, but such educational standard will surely appear. In Russia 1% of children, – over 200 thousand people, – has an autistic spectrum disorder. The president of “Vykhod” charity foundation in Belgorod Natalya Zlobina told about work with such category of children and measures taken for their adaptation in educational institutions.
During the meeting students got to know about “Inclusive Molecule” project’s implementation in Russia. The project is dedicated to the creation of a barrier-free environment for children with a severe form of autism in the general educational organizations.
Meetings with Natalya Zlobina and Olesya Kotko became a tradition of the Department and help future social workers to enhance their training.
