All Belgorod shared the celebration with teachers and students, and greeted them during the parade
Today Belgorod State University celebrates Knowledge Day. After the traditional prayer service representatives of the management of the university, members of the academic council, teachers, students and representatives of foreign associations have passed in the academic procession along the central city streets with the accompaniment of Rector Brass Band. Participants laid wreathes to the Eternal flame at Cathedral Square. The procession ended on the university square where the column of teachers and students was welcomed by first-year students of BelSU and on-stage performance the youth cultural center art clubs.
Guests of honor of the university made speeches at the square: deputy of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valery Skrug, head of the higher education department and department of domestic and personnel policy of the Belgorod region Natalya Shapovalova, first deputy head of administration on economy of Belgorod Dmitry Aldayev. Guests of honor have congratulated staff of the university on behalf of the leaders of the region.
The rector of BelSU professor Oleg Polukhin has greeted students, teachers, parents and guests of a celebration and congratulated them with Knowledge day and the beginning of the new academic year.
“I want to say special words to first-year students, to those who will cross a threshold of our audiences for the first time, and undergraduates, who, together with us, took part in a solemn academic procession today. I wish first-year students bright impressions, good knowledge and new acquaintances. To undergraduates I wish to complete their study successfully! Annually we graduate more than 6000 specialists and more than 1000 of them gain diplomas summa cum laude, but no matter what diplomas you will get, I wish you that it became the voucher in a big and bright life! I thank the faculty of the university and all his employees who write of our higher education institution with their work at the one of the best universities in the world! Greetings, friends!” – Oleg Nikolaevich said.
Representatives of student council "The union of students of BelSU" congratulated new students with a holiday and handed them the student ID card. The ceremony has ended with a solemn oath of first-year students in which they promised to honor traditions of the university and to use the best efforts to become worthy specialists.
