Strengthening cooperation with Bulgaria

The delegation from the Veliko Tarnovo University of Saints Cyril and Methodius (Bulgaria) headed by the rector of the University Hristo Iliev Bongolov, visited the “BelSU” to conduct negotiations on expansion of cooperation

The rector of the “BelSU” Oleg Polukhin greeted the guests from the University and expressed hope that the meeting will be concluded with the agreements that will help to the both universities to conquer new frontiers. He also invited colleagues to participate in the celebration of the 141-th birthday of the Belgorod National Research University and to visit the ceremony of awarding the best graduates of 2017 by medals “Dostoinomy”.

The rector of the Veliko Tarnovo University Hristo Iliev Bangalov in his turn thanked Oleg Polukhin and the University administration for the warm welcome.

– I want to congratulate you: I really liked your students, polite, pleasant young people. This is very important because we work for people, - he said.

Christo Bungalov also told about the history of the University and invited Oleg Polukhin for a return visit.

The parties discussed the possibility of joint participation in the program of academic exchange of Erasmus+ and opportunities for the protection of thesis research in the partner University.

There was also reached the agreement about the opening of the Centre for cross border studies on the base of Veliko Tarnovo University.

The story of the partnership between the universities began on 25 April 2016, when the cooperation agreement between BelSU and the Veliko Tarnovo University named after Saints Cyril and Methodius was signed. In October 2016 the administration of the Belgorod state University, Director of Juridical Institute Evgeny Tonkov and Professor of administrative and international law of law Institute Elena Safronova took part in the scientific conference on the base of the Veliko Tarnovo University in Bulgaria.
