Solving ecological problems together

The VII International conference "Problems of Environmental Management and Ecological Situation in the European Russia and in Adjacent Territories" organized by BelSU Mining and Environmental Management Department took place at BelSU. The conference was dedicated to memory of the untimely deceased dean of the department Prof. Alexander Petin who has acted as the organizer of this conference since 2004.

Rector of BelSU Prof. Oleg Polukhin addressed conferees with the welcoming speech. He suggested to begin a meeting with a moment of silence in the memory of Alexander Petin and noted that his ideas will live and develop at the university.

“The conference is held in Ecology Year, in a year of especially protected natural territories therefore special attention is paid to the solution of regional environmental problems here. Belgorod region is one of leaders of the reserved movement therefore there is a tradition of holding such remarkable conference here. At our university, opportunities for consolidation of scientists’ efforts in the different subject areas extend; we will aim at creation of the cross-disciplinary research center to continue further research in Belgorod region. I wish you good communication, interesting scientific research and progress!” – Oleg Polukhin said.

The associate director of Institute of geography of RAS, the corresponding member of RAS, doctor of geographical sciences, professor Arkady Tishkov, RAS academician, the chief researcher of Institute of dynamics of geospheres of RAS, the doctor of physical and mathematical sciences, professor Vitaly Adushkin, the associate director of Institute Geospheres Dynamics of RAS, the doctor of physical and mathematical sciences, professor Gevorg Kocharyan, RAS academician, the Dr.Sci.Biol., professor of agrochemistry of Novosibirsk State University Gennady Gamzikov, the Head of Department of Soil Sciences, environment and the atmosphere of the Missouri University (the state of Colombia, USA), professor Anthony Lupo took part in the organizing committee of a conference.

More than 260 scientists from different countries took part in work of a conference. These are scientists from Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, USA, Vietnam, Kyrgyzstan etc. 183 scientific articles were provided for the collection.
