Rector of BelSU, doctor of political sciences, Prof. Oleg Polukhin made a speech at the ninth Klykovsky readings in Prokhorovka
The forum which took place on November 7 at the cultural historic center of memorial estate "Prokhorovskoye pole" was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the October revolution. Participants of readings tried to answer a question: was the October revolution a triumph of the Workers' and Peasants' movement or the tragedy of the Russian people.
Traditionally Klykovsky readings take place in Kursk region, in the homeland of the sculptor Vyacheslav Klykov. The Readings took place in the Belgorod region for the first time. Part in the discussions was taken by the governor of the Belgorod region Evgeny Savchenko, the deputy of the Kursk region duma Vladimir Kharin, the honorary head of the Kursk association in Moscow Ivan Polozkov, the rector of BelSU, professor Oleg Polukhin, the honored artist of the Russian Federation Anatoly Shishkov, representatives of higher education institutions of area, clergy.
Scientists of BelSU nade reports at the Readings. Professor of Philosophy and Theology Department of BelSU Pavel Olkhov submitted the report "Philosophy of Revolution: practical lessons of postoctober century". Associate professor of the Russian history and document science Elena Prokofieva stated the vision of historical events of the century in the report "About the Great Russian revolution: discrepancy of opinions and search of ways for modern Russian society’s consolidation".
The rector of BelSU professor Oleg Polukhin noted that now it is possible to try to the most objective view on revolution of 1917 formulate for the first time in many years.
“We have an opportunity to participate in extraction of lessons from the history. It is very important that process of its analysis happens in the new Russia. In spite of all discrepancy, complexity of the processes it is necessary to recognize that we build democratic Russia. It gives us the chance to freely formulate and argue the different points of view based on different ideological beliefs”, – he said.
