The international scientific and practical conference "Archeology of the East European Forest-steppe" was opened at BelSU
The scientists and representatives of scientific centers who are engaged in archaeological studying of the ancient past of extensive forest-steppe spaces of Eastern Europe from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Belgorod, Samara, Kaluga, Bryansk, Kursk, Voronezh, Lipetsk, Tambov, Tula, Kharkiv, Sumy, Donetsk, Lugansk and other cities have gathered in the hall of the academic council of BelSU.
The vice rector for quality and additional education of BelSU Vladimir Shapovalov has addressed conferees with welcoming speech.
“During the conference we will acquaint you with the university and those researches in the field of history and archeology which are carried out by our scientists. There is no need to speak about importance of archeology; everyone knows that archaeological monuments and historical sources are the main proof-points of any historical discussion!” – he said.
The vice rector has told about infrastructure of the university, its scientific, educational and social activity.
The plenary session was opened by the associate professor of the Russian history and document science of historical and philological faculty of the BelSU Pedagogical Institute Vladimir Sarapulkin. He has told about development of archeology in Belgorod region and the results received during the researches of scientists-archeologists. Among the problems facing modern archeology, Vladimir Sarapulkin has noted need of ensuring safety of archeological monuments and preparation of a highly qualified scientific personnel.
At a conference the new materials received as a result of excavation in the territory of the East European forest-steppe will be presented. Conferees will pay special attention to the questions of protection of monuments, problems connected with carrying out security excavation, to studying of the anthropological materials revealed in the course of the archaeological research.
