Students and undergraduates of the university have won six medals, including three gold on a Yu.N. Puzakov Armwrestling Tournament
The championship in which athletes from 23 regions of Russia have participated has taken place in the city of Aleksin of Tula region. The team of the Belgorod region was represented by students and undergraduates of BelSU who train under the leadership of the dean of Physical Education Department Igor Nikulin, the head of sports disciplines subdepartment Alexander Voronkov and the teacher of sports disciplines subdepartment, the sports judge of the All-Russian category Mikhail Filatov.
“The fight promised to be uncompromising as very representative list of participants has gathered this year. Winners and prize-winners of the European championships and the world championships have come to fight on a tournament for the highest places”, – Igor Nikulin said.
In women's standing Elizaveta Reshetnik was the best in weight category up to 60 kg. One more hero of a tournament, but already in men's standing, was Nikita Merker who has won in up to 70 kg weight category. This victory has allowed Nikita to become the Master of Sports of Russia. The golden medal was won by the student of Pedagogical Institute Preschool, primary and vocational education department Anjelica Bashmina. Students of physical culture department Denis Tolmachev and Mikhail Kudryashov became silver prize-winners. In one of duels Mikhail has overcome the champion of Europe Alexander Gusov. Anatoly Zaporozhsky who also represented the Belgorod State University and the national team of the region became the bronze prize-winner.
