BelSU was admitted to the International Lilac Society

The botanical garden of BelSU has started implementation of the target program "Belgorod Lilac". Experts of the Botanical garden have planned creation a world-class scientific collection of a lilac in the BelSU Botanical garden, creation of the selection center in which work on creation of the latest grades of a lilac will be developed.

The project has been approved by scientists-selectionists from Moscow, authors of various lilac breeds.

According to the recommendation of the vice-president of ILS in Russia and the countries of Asia, the board member of ILS Tatyana Polyakova, BelSU has been admitted in ILS as the collective member.

“This status gives us the information on the latest news in the sphere of a lilac breeding, emergence of new perspective breeds, a right to participate in annual congresses of society. As members of this organization we can exchange experience and landing material, organize joint scientific conferences”, – the Dr.Sci.Biol., the director of BelSU Botanical Garden professor Valery Tokhtar has commented.
