Journalism Department: reports and prospects

The major questions, offered for discussion of the academic council, concerned results of department’s development and university since 2013 when the Competitiveness Program and the prospects of growth till 2020 has been adopted.

The acting dean Svetlana Ushakova has reported on results of department’s development. She has noted positive dynamics - steady proliferation of students contingent, opening of three new educational programs (a bachelor degree and a magistracy in the “Media communication” course and a magistracy in the "Advertising and Public Relations" course), noticeable strengthening of publishing activity that confirms competitiveness of the Belgorod Journalism department. Opening of the new bachelor specialty “Television” is planned for 2019.

The Council has taken into consideration that also other planned development indicators, including research activity and the international cooperation are executed. So, thanks to joint projects with the Bergamo state university (Italy), funds for collective monograph and the collection of the scientific publications with the international participation published in BelSU have been raised.

The President of the university Oleg Polukhin has wished to colleagues increase in further publishing activity and increase of department’s prestige.

“Today we see the fierce competition in the field of education, and we should be constantly aware of all current trends, introduce new technologies, and first of all, practice-focused ones, in training process”, - Oleg Polukhin said.
