A grant from the London Mathematical Society and the University of Leeds made cooperation between the University of Leeds and BSNRU a reality.
Professor Sergey Sitnik is the Head of the Differential Equations Faculty at the Department of Engineering Technology and Natural Science. During his visit to the University of Leeds, Professor Sitnik gave a lecture at the School of Mathematics at the University of Leeds on 'Approximations by quadratic exponents and their applications in the theory of signals', discussed scientific cooperation with colleagues from the University of Leeds, and conducted a scientific Seminar with postgraduate students on subjects of common interest to mathematicians from both universities.
One of the aims of this joint work was the preparation of joint applications to grant organisations in the UK and Russia for carrying out theoretical and applied research. Professor Sitnik visited the University of Cambridge and discussed the results of his scientific research with mathematicians from Christ's College.
Such work contributes to the scientific reputation of BSNRU and the expansion of useful relationships between international universities. Cooperation results in scientific articles, monographs, and speeches at international and national scientific conferences.
Many thanks for his support in organising the trip must go to Dr Vladimir Kisil, who, together with colleagues at the School of Mathematics at the University of Leeds, did a lot of the preparatory work.
