The opening ceremony was attended by the best students, undergraduates, graduate students and young scientists from BSNRU.
Professor Andrei Peresypkin, the Deputy Vice-Rector for Scientific and Innovation Activity, welcomed students, undergraduates, graduate students and young scientists to 'Science Week 2018', on behalf of the Rector, Professor Oleg Polukhin. He gave a summary of the results of the University's scientific activity over the past year. He focused on scientific achievements, events (such as the International Youth Forum for Universities in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO)) and the numerous ratings which show the improved performance of the University. Professor Peresypkin explained how all the ideas from students and young scientists of the university on participation in competitions and grants, are always supported by the leadership of the university, saying,
“One of the main activities of the university is innovation driven by students, undergraduates and graduate students. Regional Governor, Evgeny Savchenko pays close attention to the development of innovation in the region. He calls our university a beacon of the higher education in the region, on which the innovative transformation of the region's economy largely depends.”
In conclusion, Professor Peresypkin emphasised that all the improvements in our ratings do help our students, undergraduates and young scientists interested in developing their personal potential. He expressed his confidence that many of our young people will be able to realise their creative potential.
Prizes were given to the winners of competitions including 'Student-Researcher of the Year', 'The Best Student Scientific Research Project', and 'Post-Graduate Student of the Year', as well as University Diplomas for work on regional themes in 2017.
Dr Alexander Zhikharev, the Head of the Department for Student-Researchers and Young Scientists, talked about Science Week events, and the upcoming 'Youth Forum for SCO member states (SCO-2018), which will be held at BSNRU between 22nd and 25th May.
Dr Ivan Nikulin, Associate Professor of the Department of Materials Science and Nanotechnologies at the Institute of Engineering Technology and Natural Science, gave a presentation on 'The activities of the international scientific and educational laboratory of radiation physics'. After this Ms Diana Martseva, a postgraduate student from the Medical Institute presented her project on the 'Innovative work on the composition and technology of medication for relief from Otitis'.
