BSNRU scientists received grants from the Russian Science Fund for future projects.
Two research projects were awarded grants from the Russian Science Fund (RNF) and will be developed further. 'Research and Development for High-Entropic Alloys of the Co-Cr-Fe-Ni-Mn System with High Strength and Plasticity' is a project led by Dr Nikita Stepanov, a senior research fellow of the Laboratory of Bulk Nanostructured Materials, and will run from 2018 to 2020. It is devoted to the creation of new structural metallic materials with promising properties for practical applications based on high-entropy alloys from the Co-Cr-Fe-Ni-Mn system, supplemented with Al and C.
'Physical Properties for Controlling Ti / TiB Composite Structure During Spark Plasma Synthesis and Subsequent Deformation-Heat Treatment for Obtaining an Optimal Balance of Properties' is a project led by Dr Sergei Zherebtsov, the Head of the Department of Material Science and Nanotechnology, was also supported by the RNF. The study is devoted to the development of new approaches to the creation of metal-matrix composites based on titanium, and using spark plasma synthesis and subsequent processing by thermal and deformation-thermal methods to provide an optimal set of mechanical and functional properties.
