met with students, postgraduate students and Junior Researchers.
Dr Igor Konstantinov, the Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation, Dr Roman Saprykin, the head of the Sales Office Department, Dr Alexander Zhikharev, the head of the Department for Research Work with Students and Young Scientists, and Dr Alina Kamilu, chair of the Student Scientific Society, were also present to listen to the Rector and hear about projects undertaken by the students.
In his opening address, Professor Polukhin underlined the importance of direct dialogue with the student body, young people who aren't just involved in study, but also lead active lives in extra-curricular activities, saying,
“As head of the University, it is important for me to build up a partnership with students. It is important for all of us to hear your opinion, learn about your achievements, as well as your problems, and to see the learning experience through your eyes. I enjoy exchanging opinions on what needs to be done to actively involve students in scientific research work, and how to create a more favourable environment for scientific research carried out by all students, both undergraduates and postgraduates.”
Seven of our students then gave presentations at the meeting, show-casing inventive projects from different areas of study. Vladislav Berezhnoy, a second year postgraduate, read his report on the 'Development of an Intellectual Decision-Making System for the Management of an Anthropomorphic Robot' highlighting the difficulties he had encountered in his research. Ulyana Krut, a Junior Researcher at the Department of Microbiology, talked about the development of bioactive sorption compounds for the treatment and prevention of purulence in the wounds in animals. Professor Polukhin suggested that she gather a team and become the head of a Veterinary Pharmaceutical Research Laboratory.
