BNRU took part in a workshop called 'The Preparation of Scientific Journals for Promotion to the International Information Space: SCOPUS Recommendations'.
Our team consisted of three editors from the 'Scientific Result' collection of journals, namely, Dr Inna Shapovalova, Editor-in-Chief of 'Scientific Result: Sociology and Management', Dr Oksana Vaganova, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of 'Scientific Result: Economic Studies', and Dr Olga Dekhnich, Editor-in-Chief of 'Scientific Result: Questions of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics'. The workshop was held for the first time last year, and was a precursor to the 7th 'International Scientific Publications 2018: Editorial Policy, Open Access, Scientific Communications Conference'. Both events were hosted by the Financial University in Moscow under the auspices of the Dutch publisher 'Elsevier', the Association of Scientific Editors and Publishers (ANRI), and the non-profit partnership 'National Electronic Information Consortium' (NEICon).
Patrick Crisfulla, Vice-President of SCOPUS Elsevier, Dr Wim Meester, Head of SCOPUS Elsevier Content Development, and Karen Holland, a member of the SCOPUS Content Selection Advisory Board in the UK, all gave speeches at the workshop.
The two most pressing issues of the day were how to improve the quality of scientific articles, and ways to increase an article's chances of inclusion in SCOPUS. Ms Holland talked about how the process of the peer review worked at the journal, with particular regard to how expert evaluation was carried out.
