A concert in honour of our veterans called 'A Victory for All' has been held at BNRU's Youth Cultural Centre.
The concert was aimed at reminding the audience of the magnificent exploits of ordinary Soviet soldiers. BNRU veterans from the front lines and the home front were presented with bouquets of flowers.
In his speech, Professor Oleg Polukhin, Rector of BNRU, expressed our gratitude to the veterans, saying that the success of the university is directly related to the fact that veterans invested their energy in the University, and were and are an inspiration to all. He said,
“We are here with you on the eve of this special 'Victory Day' celebration, which stands as a symbol of heroism and courage of our people, who defended the honour of their homeland. Its emotional intensity and scale is such, that it is an anniversary celebrated all over the world. In honouring this holiday, we preserve our history, passing on unshakable spiritual and moral values to succeeding generations, as well as respect for the older generation, patriotism, and pride in our country. Let me cordially congratulate you all on the 73rd anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War. I wish you happiness, health, prosperity and a peaceful skies over head!”
During the concert, attention was drawn to the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Kursk and the Battle of Prokhorovka, which Belgorod citizens will celebrate along with the whole country this year. The story of these legendary battles was played out with dramatic reconstructions, where the tales of the exploits of the heroes of the Battle of Kursk, and the role of women during the war were illustrated with appropriate music and film.
The singer Dmitri Srybny and singers and dancers from the '31st Region', the 'Heather Art Studio, 'Dance Chaos', and Irina Desyatnichenko's 'Inspiration' all performed wartime songs so beloved of all Russians. The concert culminated with a performance of the famous 'Victory Day' song, sung by the BSNRU Academic Choir.
