BNRU takes victory in Volleyball and Table Tennis at the Association of Student Sport Clubs (ASSC) national competitions
The Anapa Region hosted the finals of the ASSC national amateur competitions between 6th and 9th May, bringing together more than 1000 student competitors from 50 Regions across Russia. The competitions were limited to football, 4-a-side volleyball, 3-on-3 basketball, table tennis and chess.
Our men's volleyball team won for the second time in a row, making sure the trophy remained in our cabinet. The victorious team comprised of Mikhail Boiko, Sergei Filatov, Vladislav Skrypchenko, and Ivan Savchenko, all from the Pedagogical Institute's Faculty of Physical Education, with Arseny Tsurkan, representing the Institute of Engineering Technology and Natural Sciences, and Vladislav Bulatov, studying at the Institute of Mining and Resource Management. They were led to victory by their coach, Dr Larisa Zhilina. Mr Skrypchenko took away the Tournament's Most Valuable Player award. Andrius Stankevičius, from the Institute of Management, won the Table Tennis tournament.
The ASSC championships comprise of several stages, the first of which is used to determine the best team or player at a university. Then the universities compete within their Regions for the honour of representing their Region at the National Finals.
