51 people took part in the 'Know Your Chemistry' competition
The participants ranged in age from 14 to 45 and came from Belgorod and its Region, and from the town of Odintsovo in Moscow Region. 25 questions had to be answered in one hour. The dictation tasks were designed to let the competitors demonstrate not only an in-depth knowledge of chemistry, but also general erudition and practical skills.
The maximum number of points that participants could score was 25. The best result was 22. One of those taking part, Tatiana Shuteva, a graduate of BNRU's Biology and Chemistry Department, had this to say,
“The questions were straightforward, based on knowledge acquired at school. The most difficult were questions related to the interpretation of visual material.”
In the final part, as well as the dictation text being revealed, BNRU students, Yaroslav Kulchenko and Elena Oleynits conducted some entertaining live experiments, which some participants were able to help with.
The results will be published on 18th May on the event's official site.
