Academics convened in Grodno to discuss issues around closer cross-border cooperation between individual Regions within Russia and Belarus.
Professor Victor Sapryka, the Chair of Social Technology at BNRU, took part in a seminar on 'Regional Entrepreneurship in the Process of Integration of the Russian/Belarusian Alliance', which was held at the Yanka Kupala State University in Grodno, with support from the Centre for the Study of Future Integration.
The talks centred on issues of cooperation between the Regions of Russia and Belarus as they stand, the impact on the Regions of the continuing development of the Eurasian Economic Union, and the alliance between Belarus and Russia. Those present identified promising projects for future cooperation among Regions. Professor Sapryka gave a report in which he stated that,
'At present, while cooperation between the Regions of Russia and Belarus is partly an attempt to restore the model of Soviet cooperation, it is also a search for new models of cooperation within the framework of the alliance between Russia and Belarus.'
The delegates resolved to adopt BNRU's proposals on closer scientific and educational cooperation, the sharing of technology between allies, and research into the formation of a common educational space.
