13 teams from all over BNRU have been competing in the 'Zarnitsa' military games
'Zarnitsa' (which translates as 'A Distant Flash of Lightening'), refers to a series of martial themed events, designed to test the metal of our students. The event is in its tenth year and is organised by the youth branch of the BNRU Trade Union.
Participants demonstrated their abilities in military drill, obstacle courses across the local river, gas drill, archery, and even martial drama. Hungry students were fed soldier's porridge from a military field kitchen, and were entertained by dancers and singers.
The 'Engineer Force' team, from the Institute of Engineering Technology and Natural Science took first place, with second going to team 'Defenders', from the Pedagogical Institute's Faculty of History and Philology. Team 'Falcon', from the Pedagogical Institute's Faculty of Physical Education, came third.
Arina Kozlova, from the Pedagogical Institute's Faculty of Physical Education, received the prize for the best drill. The 'Best Captain' award was given to Andrew Miroshnichenko, from the Institute of Engineering Technology and Natural Science.
At the awards ceremony, Valery Timofeev, the chairman of the BNRU Trade Union said that he had been impressed by the efficient organisation of the event, and the passion of the participants.
