The traditional academic procession along the central streets of the city opened a new academic year
BNRU celebrated the Day of Knowledge. Traditionally, the holiday began with a prayer in the chapel of the Holy Martyr Eugenia of Rome. Representatives of the administration, teachers and students of BNRU took part in the prayer service and received a blessing for the new school year.
The day of knowledge continued with a traditional academic procession. To the accompaniment of the rector's brass band representatives of the university's management, members of the academic council, teachers, graduate students passed through the central streets of Belgorod. Participants in the laid wreaths at the Eternal Fire on Cathedral Square. The march was completed at the university square, where a solemn line took place.
Guests of the holiday were representatives of the regional government, employers and social partners of the university. They congratulated freshmen, alumni, and the entire university community on the Day of Knowledge and wished them success in their studies and good luck.
On behalf of the governor of the region Eugeny Savchenko, the Deputy Governor - Head of the Department of Internal and Personnel Policy of the Belgorod Region Olga Pavlova greeted those who gathered on behalf of the Governor of the region. She wished all the staff of the university new achievements and discoveries.
Rector of BNRU Prof. Oleg Polukhin congratulated students, teachers, employees and guests of the holiday with the start of the new academic year and recalled that the university has a glorious almost half a century of tradition:
“Today we are opening a new 142nd page of the history of the university. It is an honor, but also a great responsibility - to create the history of your university. Let’s remember this, as well as the fact that nothing can be deleted from history. Everything - good and bad - will remain forever for our descendants. Entering the new academic year we will remember that we are one university family”.
Representatives of the student council congratulated the first-year students on the holiday and presented them a symbolic student ID. ‘Reception’ to the student family was fixed by a solemn oath of newly-made students.
