Exchange of experience for solving global problems

The ‘Summit of Advanced Scientific Research: Eurasia’, organized by the rating agency Times Higher Education (THE) in partnership with the KFU, was held at the Kazan (Volga) Federal University and was dedicated to discussing topical problems of higher education and ways of its solving. The participants of the forum gathered to determine the strategic perspectives, the mechanisms for the sustainable development of world-class universities in the Eurasian space, discuss the issues of uniting heads of institutions of higher education and science, representatives of state authorities, business and expert community from 20 countries.

Vice-Rector for the implementation of strategic development programs Andrey Peresypkin, Head of the Planning and Organization Department of the Educational Process Valentina Shevchenko and Leading Expert of the Center for Strategic Development and Scientometric Research Olesya Serkina took part in the event on behalf of BNRU. Employees of the university became participants in the panel discussion within the thematic block of the summit ‘Higher education as a locomotive of regional development’.

Within the framework of the summit, the members of the delegation met the rector of the KFU Ilshat Gafurov who invited the rector of BNRU Oleg Polukhin to visit Kazan Federal University and the rector of the University of Innopolis Alexander Tormasov. He shared with the Belgorod colleagues the experience of the university in the educational and innovation fields. Today Innapolis is the leading private IT-university in Russia, providing training exclusively in English in close partnership with the profile business community, whose representatives participate once a year in university-based strategic sessions on improving the educational programs implemented by the university. As a result of such a close partnership, the maximum adaptation of the educational programs of the University of Innopolis to the needs of Russian IT companies is reached.

The establishment of new contacts with representatives of the universities of Eurasian countries allowed exchanging views on the possibilities for cooperation both at the inter-university level and within the framework of the Youth Forum of Universities of the SCO Countries, held annually at BNRU. Representatives of the delegation negotiated with the leadership of the rating agency THE - the Director of Strategic Solutions of THE World University Rankings, Michael Caruana and the Regional Director of Times Higher Education in Russia and CIS countries Yegor Yablokov on cooperation between the BNRU and THE.
