The Belgrade Institute for Political Studies in Serbia, was the venue for an international forum attended by colleagues from the Institute of Social Sciences and Mass Communication's Faculty of Journalism
The theme of the forum was 'Discourse in Modern Mass Media in Theory, Social Practice and Education'. Our delegation included Professor Evgeny Kozhemyakin, Head of the Department for Communication, Advertising and Public Relations, Professor Andrei Polonsky, Head of the Faculty of Journalism, and Dr Ekaterina Khovanova, Associate Professor at the Department of Communication, Advertising and Public Relations. The forum was co-sponsored by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (RFBR Project 18-012-20052). As well as participating in the forum, our colleagues were able go to a meeting on the theme of 'Studying Political Discourse in Serbia and Russia: Present and Future Issues'. Along with ours there were delegations from the Slavonic Studies Department of Bergamo University in Italy, and the Political Science Department at the University of Belgrade in Serbia. During a well-attended main forum, subjects for further study were identified. After this, delegates discussed ways to develop cooperation in scientific publishing, joint grant activity, academic exchange (including internships), the development of joint Masters programs, and likely future joint international conferences. Our colleagues were invited to attend a thesis defence, which helped to identify potential forms of cooperation in dissertation councils. Our University is running a series of events from the 3rd to 5th October connected with the forum.
