Professor Elena Safronova, from BNRU's Law Institute, visited Veliko Tarnovo University to formalise and further our agreement on academic partnership
Professor Safronova attended the opening ceremony for the University's 55th year alongside Krasimir Vulchev, Bulgaria's Minister for Education and Science, Professor Galina Popova, Regional Governor of Veliko Tarnovo, and Igor Spirdonov, Chairman of the City Council. Deputies of the Bulgarian National Assembly joined staff and students to witness the ceremony.
After this, Professor Safronova met with Professor Hristo Bonjolov, Rector of the University, and Professor Tsvetan Sivkov, Dean of the Law Faculty, where they finalised the academic exchange program for undergraduates. The graduate program has already been agreed, and the undergraduate program is due to start in the Spring of next year, with a group of BNRU law students spending a semester at Veliko Tarnovo. Their curriculum will be heavily weighted towards international law. The agreement also included plans for the joint research project, the result of which is mooted to be the publication of a joint monograph entitled 'The Documents, Facts and Faces Behind the History of Soviet-Bulgarian Cooperation at Belgorod Magnitka.'
