Professor Oleg Polukhin, Rector of BNRU, led a delegation to Belgrade in an enthusiastic bid to deepen existing academic and cultural links in a series of high-level meetings
The delegation included Dr Vladislav Kuchmisty, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, Dr Sergei Borisov, Director of the Institute of Social Sciences and Mass Communication, and Dr Alla Krivets, from the International Relations Department. The first day of a packed schedule included a meeting with Mikhail Bondar, the head of the Russian Humanitarian Mission in the Balkans. Professor Polukhin was keen to highlight the benefits of working with BNRU to promote cultural and educational exchanges with Balkan universities. Also on the schedule was a meeting with Nadezhda Kuschenkova, the Director of the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Belgrade. The Rector proposed holding a version of the Belgorod Regional Festival in Belgrade, which will give Serbians a taste of the rich cultural life we enjoy in our Region, and act as a commercial hub for businessmen.
The Rector is a lover of Serbian culture, and is very invested in the idea of developing a close relationship with its people. The party also found time to visit the Church of St Sava, a large Serbian Orthodox cathedral in the heart of Belgrade.
