BNRU is the first university to be certified 'Lean'. This is largely down to the efforts of our Open Engineering School, which has been implementing the principles of Lean Production in its teaching program
Lean Production is a system developed by Toyota over a number of years, which seeks to identify and tackle waste and wasteful practices in its manufacturing process. Leonid Sergeev, from the National Scientific Research Institute, came down from Moscow to meet Professor Oleg Polukhin, Rector of BNRU. He awarded the University a Level 5 'Recognition of Achievement' Certificate for a score of 75.56%. The top level is 7. Mr Sergeev handed the Certificate to the Rector in a small ceremony marking the first occasion an educational institution has received such a grading.
BNRU's Open Engineering School offers many courses reflecting the best in modern processing and manufacture, as well as providing a general education to its students.
