The Russian Association of Student Sports Clubs (RASSC) selected our University, once again, as the venue for its 3rd annual Paragames, with disabled students from across Russia competing in seven sports
Sponsors for the event included the University itself, the RASSC, Belgorod Region, the 'Pravda' trade union and the Belgorod Regional Centre of Adaptive Sports and Physical Education. The tournament will consist of Shooting, Standing Long Jump, Target Throwing, Relay and Individual Track Racing. The Games will be refereed by our own Dr Alexander Voronkov, the Director of the Regional Testing Centre for the 'Prepared for Labour and Defence' national fitness program.
Professor Oleg Polukhin, Rector of Belgorod State UniversityU, gave a welcoming address, and thanked the RASSC for continuing to honour our University by holding the games here since their inception. He said that this testifies to the high standards of efficiency and organisation of our staff and students. The Games were formally opened by Paralympian Shooter Andrei Kozhemyakin, the 2016 World SH1 Champion.
