The Holiday Season is a time for family, and also a time to reflect on our own fortunate circumstances. Some students from Belgorod State University took time out to consider the needs of those less fortunate than themselves, and made an effort to make their Christmas special this year
'Christmas for All' was organised by the 'Vera' charity with help from the University's Institute of Social Sciences and Mass Communications, and the Regional Government's Department for Internal and Personnel Policy. Our team was led by Dr Olga Volkova, the Head of the Social Work Department, and our students decorated the Christmas tree for the occasion. The event saw disadvantaged children from large and single-parent families, the children of refugee families, and children with disabilities, come together for some traditional Christmas fun.
The children were brought by the 'Light of Hope' Centre for the Rehabilitation of Disabled Children and Young Families, the 'Blue Bird' charity, which assists families of children with autism and other mental disorders, the Russian Red Cross, and the National Haemophilia Association.
