Belgorod State University has teamed up with the Rodina Art Gallery for a new exhibition 'The Reality of the Southern Borderlands in the 16th and 17th Centuries'
The exhibition is sponsored by the Children of Veterans Association, the University's Institute of Cross-Border Cooperation and Integration (ICBCI), and the Pedagogical Institute's Faculty of History and Philology. The display includes over 50 artefacts including clothes, weapons, items from the households of Russian archers, copies of weapons and armour worn by Lithuanian warriors, and historical maps. Dr Viktor Sapryka, whose ICBCI provided many of the exhibits, felt it was worth the effort, saying,
“It is important to understand the unique history of our region. We must be aware of the customs, and traditions of our ancestors, and to know how they looked, lived and fought”.
