Belgorod State University has made it into the 201-250 group in the Times Higher Education (THE) Emerging Economies University Rankings for 2019, and into the 801-1000 group in the World University Rankings
The Emerging Economies index is made up of 43 countries that are BRIC states, or who have similar economic circumstances. We are now ranked 16th in Russia out of 35, with Moscow State University taking top spot here, and 5th place overall. This is all the more impressive as our University is not part of the '5-100' group of Russian Universities earmarked for this kind of progress, and therefore is not a recipient of state funding allocated for this purpose. Full details can be found here. Professor Oleg Polukhin, Rector of the University explained that,
“The success of the Belgorod State University in the THE rankings is a natural result of the efforts made by the university in the last several years, after we adopted a new strategy in 2013 to improve our status among the world's leading scientific and educational centres. Our present task is to increase the number of subject ratings where our university is represented, and to push ourselves higher on the THE World University Ranking.”
