Belgorod State University's Institute of Economics and Management organised 'Orbit', the second annual careers advice forum for school students
200 school leavers from across the Region came to the University for advice on their future. Professor Viktor Zakharov, Director of the Institute, conducted a Q&A that lasted for 3 hours, and involved Dr Alexander Galtsev, who runs the Admissions Department in the University. There were a number of departmental heads also present to field questions from the audience. Professor Zakharov emphasised that days like this are increasingly relevant and necessary, as the volume of information can be a little daunting for some future students. Dr Galtsev walked the audience through the admissions process, and the entry requirements for different departments.
The day involved analysing the job market, economic trends that may effect their careers, and common pitfalls in course selection. The experience was extended, with the University offering participation in Instagram sites which offer interactive content related to careers, such as, 'I Am an Accountant', 'Student Travel Agent', 'Lean Manufacturing Tools', and games like 'Business Intelligence', 'A Virtual Reality Journey Through the Universe', 'Global Expert', 'Professions of the Future', and 'If I Were a Civil Servant...'. They also had an app which offered true stories from exchange students called, 'Global Student: Great Experiences and True Stories!'
