National Defenders Day, a day that celebrates the men and women who have served in the armed forces. The event was organised by the Physical Education Department and sponsored by the University Trades Union
The competition as divided into two, with the Teacher Training and Foreign Languages Institute holding their event at the old campus in the Burevestnik Sports Hall. The competitors there got to be entertained by the 'Inspiration' contemporary dance troupe, and the 'Terpsichore Alisa' classical dance ensemble. There was also a demonstration by the Regional Artistic Gymnastics Team. In the end, the Maths & Science Faculty came out on top, with the Institute for Cross-Cultural Communication coming second and the Primary & Special Needs Faculty in third.
At the new campus, students of Law, Science, Engineering and Computer Science, fought it out in the Khorkina Sports Centre. They were welcomed by Dr Svetlana Ostrikova, Vice-Rector for Education and Youth Affairs, alongside Valery Timofeev, head of the Trades Union. Martial sports dominated proceedings, with tug-of-war, long jump and team sports included in the program. The three teams the came out on top were Digital Technology, Engineering, and Law, in that order.
