Foreign students studying in Belgorod threw a party at Belgorod State University's Youth Cultural Centre called 'We Are the World!'
The festival was organised by students from the State Agrarian and State Technical Universities, as well as our own. They brought cultural artefacts, wore national costumes, and showed off some of the work they were doing in Russia. The festival featured displays by students from Congo, Vietnam, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, China, Armenia, Jordan, Latin America and Africa. There was a themed photo zone called the 'Tree of Friendship'. Dr Svetlana Ostrikova, Vice-Rector for Youth Policy, greeted the participants, and was very pleased with this year's theme – love. She praised the positivity and professionalism of the students. Dr Vladislav Kuchmisty, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, remarked that in order to greet every nationality represented at the gathering in their own language, he would have to learn 40 words for 'Hello'. He noted the pride which we have in our 3,000 foreign students, and expressed honour bestowed on our University by their presence.
