The event is organised by a department of Belgorod Regional Government on an annual basis, and is designed to inspire young minds to take up science as a career. This year, the theme is in keeping with our Region's appointment as a National Research Centre for Agro-Industry. Among the departments exhibiting were the Design Bureau for Problems of Robotics and Mechatronics, the Scientific Center for Cognitive Neuroscience and Neurotechnology, and the Research Laboratory of the Mechanical properties of Nanostructured and Heat-Resistant Materials. The Botanical Gardens also played their part, along with the University's Physical Education Department. Together, they all gave young participants a taste (literally in some cases) of the work being carried out in nutrition, food production, analysis, and genetics, that are relevant to today's food industry. They were able to use some of the tools of the trade, and to participate in data gathering activities, in one case, by having their own body assessed for its biomechanical features.
