Belgorod State University welcomed Dr Shamsuddin al-Azzawi, the Director of the Uruk Schools Network in Baghdad. He visited the Institute of Pharmacy, Chemistry and Biology, with a view to revitalising training in his country for pharmacists, and chemists
Dr al-Azzawi wanted to discuss cooperation in educating children and graduands in the sciences, using English. His request was warmly received, and the University pulled out all the stops, offering summer courses, and as much support as it could. He met representatives from the International Office, the Centre of English, and the Pharmacy Institute. It is hoped that a training centre can be opened in Baghdad that will prepare Iraqi students for a full degree at Belgorod State University. This is representative of the work going on at the University to export Russian education, and make positive changes in the world.
