Unique species of plants are blooming in the winter garden of Belgorod State University
Southern plants have bloomed in the winter garden. As an employee of the winter garden, Irina Arkhipova, notes, the flowering season at the NRU "BelSU" greenhouse is now starting. Chamaedorea elegans - a plant native to the Central American palm family. It is often called a "bamboo" palm, as the trunk of the plant resembles the outline of a bamboo. This ornamental plant blooms once a year, has original seeds and is easy in cultivation. In the near future, lantana camara from the verbena family will also bloom. It originates from the tropical regions of America and Africa and its leaves` smell resembles mint. Beautiful lantana inflorescences are bedazzling in their multicolor: individual flowers which they consist of change color depending on the degree of maturation. Bougainvillea glabra originates from Brazil, where it blooms year-round. Her bracts are pink in color and remind all visitors of the "paper flower".
