Results of the foreign students essay competition, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Victory, were summed up online
The competition was held under the aegis of the Belgorod State University Department of Cultural and Educational Activities and the Center for Intercultural Communication. The award was broadcasted in the NRU “BelSU” VKontakte group and on YouTube. Svetlana Ostrikova, the NRU “BelSU” Vice-rector for Educational work and Youth Policy addressed the winners. She spoke about the events dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Victory, noted the significance of the competition, which brought together students from different countries of the world and promoted the ideas of peace, amity and honoring the memory of heroes who gave the world a chance to live.
- The year 2020 was declared the Year of Memory and Glory by the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, - said Svetlana Ostrikova. - The history of our university, which is over 140 years old, is inextricably connected with the history of Russia and the history of the Great Patriotic War. It is very important that students keep in touch with older generations and embrace the ideas of peace.
Elena Nazarenko, the Director of the NRU “BelSU” Center for Intercultural Communication expressed gratitude to students who showed their best side during the pandemic and talked about the most significant contests and events in which foreign students took part. The highlight was the presentation of diplomas and books to the winners. Angelica Maleva from Kazakhstan and Sulakshana Chovdhuri Roy from India were awarded the 1st degree diplomas. Al-Sauafi Mohammed Falih Hadi from Iraq, Nguyen Thi Hang Nga from Vietnam (supervisor - Anastasia Strzhalkovskaya) – 2nd degree diplomas. And Thu Thi Thuy Hong from Vietnam and Georgy Nesterov from Uzbekistan - 3rd degree diplomas. The award ceremony closed with a video flash mob broadcast - foreign students read Robert Rozhdestvensky’s memorable poem “Requiem”.
