The best scientists and educators, prize-winners of professional skills contests and students were awarded at the grand ceremony dedicated to the 144th university’s birthday
The ceremony took place at BelSU Youth Cultural Centre. Among the distinguished guests were the university’s veterans, Vice-Governor of Belgorod region Natalia Zubareva, Head of Department of Culture of the region Konstantin Kurganskiy, the Chair of the Election Commission of Belgorod region Igor Lazarev, representatives of partner organizations. Natalia Zubareva in her congratulatory address underlined the leading role of NRU BelSU in the human resource development in the region and presented A Certificate of Appreciation to Oleg Poluhin and the university staff on behalf of the Department of Health Care and Social Protection of Belgorod region.
In his word of greeting Oleg Polukhin emphasized that the university entered its 144th birthday as a backbone higher education institution and a base university of the World-Class Research and Education Centre “Innovative Solutions in Agribusiness”. He noted that the university owes its success to the continuing work of the whole staff.
“Following our tradition we have opened new divisions to mark the Day of the University – research laboratories and innovative educational units. Still our main achievement and the key to further development are the people – our students, teaching staff, researchers and managers”, noted Oleg Polukhin.
The university’s outstanding researchers and educators were decorated for the results demonstrated by the end of the academic year. They were awarded the Aleksey Pogorelov Prize and Nikolay Strakhov Prize in two nominations – Research and Education. The laureate diplomas in Research were awarded to Nikolay Danakin, Viktor Zakharov and Yuriy Chendev. In Education the prize-winners were Fedor Sobyanin, Elena Zhilyakova, Natalia Avtina and Elena Timoshenko. The gala event was followed by the ceremony of awarding The Honoured Medal for the achievements in study, research, extra-curricular and sports activities to 11 BelSU graduates. In celebration of the university’s birthday the awards were presented to over 50 winners of BelSU professional skills contests as a result of the academic year 2019-2020.
