Center for Intercultural Communication hosted a student festival dedicated to the 145th anniversary of the university and International Mother Language Day
The Palette of Languages festival at BelSU brought together university students from 18 countries, schoolchildren of Gymnasium No. 2 and Secondary School No. 4, the educational center Algorithm of Success in Belgorod. The event was held in a combined format: the participants and part of the audience were present at the Center for Intercultural Communication, and the majority watched the live broadcast via social networks. In total, over a thousand people watched the event online.
Vladislav Kuchmisty, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation greeted the festival participants via videoconference. Olga Lyutova, the Head of Center for Intercultural Communication, spoke about the history of the holiday, the map of endangered languages and the Russian language positions. Students and schoolchildren made presentations and reports on English, German, French, Spanish, Persian, Arabic, Turkish, Chinese, Tamil, Sundanese, Russian, Ukrainian and Belarusian, Hausa and Quechua languages. The festival ended with a distance quiz “What do you know about the languages of the world?”.
