The third-year postgraduate student at the Institute of Earth Sciences won the first award "Talented Woman in the Extractive Industry" in the nomination "Breakthrough of the Year"
More than 230 employees of 24 mining enterprises submitted applications for the Talented Woman in the Extractive Industry Award, established by the Russian branch of the international organization Women in Mining with the support of industrial companies in the country. The winners were determined in nine nominations. Ekaterina Pogoreltseva, OJSC Stoilensky GOK chief hydrogeologist, became the winner in the nomination “Breakthrough of the Year”.
The young specialist successfully combines working career and research. Among her responsibilities there are work with design and permission documentation and field work to support geoenvironmental monitoring of groundwater. A postgraduate student of the Department of Applied Geology and Mining of the Institute of Earth Sciences in the specialization "Geology, exploration and mining" under the guidance of Professor Vladimir Khaustov, Doctor of Technical Sciences, studies the influence of mining technogenesis on groundwaters for household water use, taking the Gubkin-Stoilensky iron ore area as an example.
Ekaterina Pogoreltseva has repeatedly become the winner of various competitions and personal scholarships. In 2017, she completed an internship at Liaoning Technical University (China), as a post-graduate student in 2019 she won a Russian Presidential Scholarship to study abroad.
