Belgorod State University trainees graduated from a continued education programme “City Farmer”
The leading specialists from Belgorod State University, Belgorod State Agrarian University named after V.Y. Gorin, Scientific and Research Centre Kurchatov Institute - IREA, LLC Plastikglas were trained at BelSU Competence Development Centre.
The programme trainees guided by Tatiana Glubusheva, Associate Professor of Biology Department of Belgorod State University, discussed the economic goals of city farming, the profitability of urban farms, got acquainted with basic agro- and aquaculture technologies, and mastered project management skills and complex automated systems.
The work on the unique educational and research equipment of the Laboratory of Genetics and Plant Breeding of BelSU Botanical Garden and the Department of Biology allowed to learn how to grow cultures of microgreens in a limited space, how to perform unpowered operations for soil preparation, sowing fruit and berry crops in a nursery-garden based on the relevant technology of fruit and berry crops production.
According to Dmitry Makarenko, Deputy Director for Science at Kurchatov Institute, the City-Farmer Programme helped to learn advanced engineering and information and technological tools, expanded opportunities to create new business models in professional area.
