The Institute for Intercultural Communication and International Relations of Belgorod State University hosted the VIII International Scientific Conference “Culture. Politics. Understanding”
The topic of the conference “Social Identity in the 21st Century: the Relationship between Culture and Politics” supported the tradition of a scientific discourse and interdisciplinary dialogue in a broad range of the humanities with a focus on the modern key issues of identity. Papers were presented both in person and via videoconferencing based on online posters.
The international conference included six thematic tracks covering different aspects of the topic under discussion. The speakers' presentations and discussions were related to various theoretical and methodological issues on the problem of identity.
The phenomenon of linguistic identity and preservation of the native language as the base for national culture and national identity, self-identification as a citizen were addressed in the reports by Milena Vidojkovic (University of Nis, Serbia), PhD Dmitry Bychkov (Astrakhan State Technical University) and other conference participants.
The Belgrade Institute for Policy Studies was a traditional partner of the scientific event. The results of the work will be published in a collection of the conference materials.
