The Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China approved establishment of Belgorod Institute of Food Sciences at Dezhou University.
During a videoconference with the Chinese partners Oleg Polukhin, the Rector of Belgorod State University, noted that cooperation between both universities had been initiated about 20 years ago and the launch of the new institute would be a logical extension of the effectively developing relations. In turn, the representative of the Chinese party Du Yali, the Head of International Exchange and Cooperation Department of Dezhou University, said that Belgorod Institute of Food Science would be another step in introduction and exploration of advanced educational models and high-quality educational resources of Russia.
“We will launch an exemplary Chinese-Russian joint institution where food science experts with an international outlook will be trained. The scientific knowledge should meet the PRC's national strategy and the goals of regional economic and social development”, commented Du Yali.
In the first phase of the institute creation Dezhou University plan to invest RMB 20 million in a 6,000-square-metre academic building. The annual enrollment plan for Belgorod Institute of Food Sciences is 300 students: 100 for Chemistry, 80 for Food Quality and 80 for Safety and Biotechnology, and 40 for Biology. The university will admit its first applicants this year laready. Once enrolled, the students will be referred to both BelSU and Dezhou University and avail educational resources of two universities. It is planned to conduct classes in three languages: Chinese, English and Russian. Upon completion the students will receive a Bachelor degree and a diploma of both universities.
