Over 80 international students participated in the gastronomic event. The participants prepared traditional national dishes and talked about their background.
The Preparatory Department of Belgorod State University hosted an international cooking festival organised by the university tutors. Over 80 students from Russia, Syria, Afghanistan, Vietnam, Colombia, Ecuador, Dominican Republic, Algeria, Egypt and other countries were involved in the gastronomic event.
Elena Nazarenko, the Deputy Head of Preparatory Department, welcomed the event participants and guests. She thanked the students for their creative approach to the festival preparation and wished them to move beyond.
International students not only organized the demonstration, but also told about the background and peculiarities of the national cuisine dishes. In colourful presentations they shared recipes and cooking styles of favourite treats.
Great interest among the participants of the festival was caused by the report of the tutor of Preparatory Department Ivan Sheenko, who spoke about Russian cuisine, emphasizing that one of the most popular dishes in Russia is soup. Students learned about the story behind the dish, different types of hot and cold soups and forms of serving.
Tasting of national dishes turned to be the culmination and the most awaited part of the event. Guests tried Ecuadorian ceviche, Afghan pilaf, Vietnamese nem, Algerian couscous, Dominican potato cake, Colombian milk rice and Arabian sweets al rafisa.
