Belgorod State University hold events to commemorate Pushkin Day in Russia.
According to the tradition, the celebration of Pushkin Day at Belgorod State University is not limited to a single day. As noted in his blog by Professor Oleg Polukhin, the Rector of Belgorod State University, our university honors its outstanding countryman by dedicating interesting events to his works: literary readings, conferences, literary and musical meetings and youth events.
The University Ball opened the poetic celebrations commemorating the 223rd anniversary of Alexander Pushkin at BelSU Botanical Garden on 6 June. The event was organised as part of the Art Garden Creative Lab project and was timed to coincide with the celebration of the Year of Cultural Heritage of the Peoples of Russia.
The Ball guests enjoyed the fancy-dress dances and quizzes, recited poetry and prose of the great Russian poet.
Belgorod State Universal Scientific Library became another venue for Pushkin Day celebrations. The students of the Institute for Intercultural Communication and International Relations and Preparatory Department, students representing the communities of Ecuador, Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa and the Arab countries participated in a creative meeting “Pushkin: Walks with the Poet”.
The international students learned about the episodes from the life of the Russian literature genius and listened to his poems and romances. Students from Angola, Haiti, Egypt, Iraq, Colombia, Congo, Nigeria, and Ecuador performed famous works “I Loved You”, “Confession”, “On the Hills of Georgia”, “Save Me, My Talisman”. The readings were held in Russian as in English, Arabic, Portuguese, French and Spanish translations.
